Addis & Hill can think of no better description of our services than
the experiences of satisfied people. Here are three scenarios, which tell
the story of working with our firm.
The Retirement:
Addis & Hill was first engaged to provide retirement planning services
to a couple as they were concluding their professional careers.
They were interested in spending what they had accumulated (although not
recklessly) to live life to the fullest. Their sons and their
families, after all, would be fine without their money.
We helped them determine the income level that was possible and develop
an investment strategy that would hold up in the face of inflation --
after all, their parents lived into their nineties.
The couple has since recommended us to their church to help manage the
congregation’s endowment.
More than clients, we have become friends.
The Newly Widowed:
A tragic story, but one that provides an important lesson: Our client was married for nearly 40 years to her husband, who took care of
the money in their marriage. Early one morning, she found her husband in his
favorite chair--dead. Although he had not been well, his death came as
a complete shock.
Asking Addis and Hill to review her situation, she came to realize
that things were not in the best order as far as their estate and various
investment accounts were concerned. The family had no clear idea about
the status of investments, insurance, and even access to money.
Once Addis & Hill accounted for all her various assets and liabilities, we prepared
some scenarios to help her understand her future income needs and what investments would be necessary to sustain a desired
level of spending.
The Corporate Executive:
The family first came to us as they were preparing a move out of the country. Many of us talk about making a major move to another
country—they are living that dream. In the interim, they
were trying to simplify their investment holdings while creating a portfolio
that was appropriate to their long-term objectives. They also were in
the process of selling their home and needed to find a place to invest
the proceeds, mindful of tax implications, until they moved back to North America. We were able to create a plan that matched their needs, and look forward to their return.
